The Goose and the Gander cabins were built by Gander Island Cabins in the Spring of 2005 near Luray Virginia. We are so proud of having so many guests enjoy their stay at our cabins. We are taking reservations now so call soon to get the dates you would like to be here by the River!

The style of cabin is the same as built by Shenandoah River Outfitters. Lisa Sottosanti Gander is the Outfitter manager and knows these cabins inside and out. She encouraged her husband, David, to built these two as a supplement to farming. The Goose and the Gander make the perfect cabin for a country retreat. The log construction just adds to the feel of the country. The set-up inside makes for a cozy place to relax. The cabin has a bedroom with a queen size bed; the living area has a double bed futon; the loft has a double bed. The cabins have electric heat and AC. We have a Satellite TV in the living room. The mini kitchen has all the kitchen items, coffee maker, microwave, stove top etc. It just doesn't have an oven. There is a charcoal grill and picnic table outside. A 6-person Hot Tub is located underneath each cabin.
The river cabins are located on 7.5 acres on the Shenandoah River and have a spring fed trout pond along with 1000' of river frontage.

A perfect combination! A Log Cabin and the Shenandoah River at your feet! Just waiting for all the fun and recreation you can experience. Fish, Canoe, Tube or just relax in the Hot Tub before outside grilling of your freshly caught Trout from the trout pond. If there is a chill in the air, just stretch out by the fireplace or throw on a jacket and sit by the bonfire! The perfect Get-away!

The Gander Island Cabins are very close to Luary Caverns, Shenandoah National Park, New Market Battlefields, Luray airport and golf course and so much more! For Winter fun, Bryce and Massanutten Ski resorts are less than an hour away or plan a romantic dinner at one of our area restaurants or shop for antiques or go horseback riding or....or....

The Gander Island cabins are part of the Shenandoah Valley farm that dates back to the 1700's.. This 5th generation farm family, David, Lisa and Kathrine Gander, raise cattle, hay, grains and chickens on 250 acres, carrying on the traditions of generations.

Gander Island Cabins is now taking bookings for Christopher's RiverSide cabin. This riverside house has 2 bedrooms with queen beds; full kitchen, large rock fireplace. It is on the East side of the River, 8 miles North of Luray.
